Fieldwork took up quite a lot of my time during my PhD. Not just the actual work in the field but also the prep and cleaning equipment etc. Although I didn't enjoy this fieldwork, or working outside at all really, I did find some enjoyment in bits of it that orientated around distracting me from the weather. If you don't know about my PhD research the field measurements were generally focussed on a few plots in a Miscanthus plantation which were sampled monthly for soil greenhouse gas emissions and soil carbon/nitrogen. The plots varied in Miscanthus inputs; with/without roots and aboveground plant litter. More info can be found here
